PlayZ runs in fixed seasons. Each season is a fresh start with a full-wipe, a set timeline, and a theme. Progression and meta reset to keep the challenge.

HARDCORE
PlayZ aims to provide a vanilla-like hardcore experience. We keep close to the original game meta, with only a few added features to make the challenge harder and reward long-term survivors. For veterans, this may be the right place to settle. For newcomers, we hope you have the courage to face it.
Loot
Hardcore loot economy doesn’t mean an empty world. PlayZ balances scarcity with purpose.
- 🔫 Early survival gear is accessible, expect pistols or shotguns to get you fighting quickly.
- 🪖 High-tier weapons and equipment demand perseverance; don’t expect an AKM on your first run.
- 🍎 The same philosophy applies to food, medical supplies, and building materials. Useful, but never abundant.
- 📉 Restock timers are longer and nominal values lower, keeping loot meaningful without stripping the world bare.
Progression
DayZ is usually a cycle of spawning, gearing up, dying, and starting over. PlayZ adds a layer of progression that rewards survival over time.
- 🪪 Every survivor has a persistent identity. Your name won’t stay anonymous for long.
- 📈 Progression is tied to your character: improve metabolism, stamina, hunting, strength...
- 💪 Unlock perks and abilities gradually as you survive and progress.
- ⚰️ Die too often, and you’ll lose more XP than you gain, sad.
- 🔄 Want to start fresh? Reset your character or change identity whenever you choose.

Medical
Injuries, infections, surgery, and triage, survival is a process.
- 🩸 Wounds are more complex: bullets, stab, and internal injuries all require different care.
- 🪡 Surgery, sutures, and regular bandage changes become vital to recovery.
- 👨⚕️ Having a medic in your squad greatly improves your chances of surviving treatment.
- 💊 A wide range of new diseases means keeping a well-stocked supply of pills and antibiotics is essential.

Visual Overhaul
We grew tired of DayZ’s default lighting, so we built our own system, one designed to enhance both visuals and gameplay.
- 🌞 Staring into the sun without a pair of sunglasses will blind you, a detail that can decide the outcome of a fight.
- 🌅 Sunsets and sunrises glow with realistic, vibrant colors.
- 🌑 Daytime shadows are darker and denser, forcing you to watch your step.
- 🌌 Nights are noisier and harsher, keeping things more fair regardless gamma.

Immersion
PlayZ moves away from arcade-style mechanics to bring survival closer to reality.
- 🧟 Infected behave like true ferals, they will track you down and should never be underestimated.
- 🎣 Fishing and hunting have been redesigned for balance, making wildlife unpredictable and demanding caution.
- 🐺 Predators are deadly: even a lone wolf can leave you bleeding out or infected with rabies if you wander unarmed.
- 🔫 Firearms demand mastery, weight, stamina, and stance all affect inertia, sway, and handling.

Weather
A custom-built weather system unique to PlayZ.
- ☀️ Clear skies most of the time, so you can enjoy the world.
- 🌫️ Immersive volumetric fog replaces the usual flat haze.
- ❄️ Snowfall that escalates from light flurries to heavy storms.
- 🌪️ Blizzards that punish the unprepared. Stay warm, covered, and dry.
- 💨 Wind events that can freeze you to death even under a clear sky.
Events
PlayZ offers in-game radio broadcasts to help them find hotspots.
- 📻 Radio alerts announce events happening across the map.
- 🚁 Classic events like helicopter crashes and military convoys remain, but with new intensity.
- ⚡ Custom-made, in-house events never seen before keep the world unpredictable.
- 🗺️ All radio broadcast offer an approximate grid to help you find the event on your map.
Train
Enjoy fully functional, rideable (and fightable) trains.
- 🚂 Build mobile bases: attach cargo wagons for passengers, items, or liquids.
- 📦 Interact while moving: vault, climb ladders, walk between wagons.
- ⚙️ Realistic train physics: inclines, momentum, and inertia make every journey unpredictable.
- 🔊 Immersive sounds, automated level crossings, and detailed interactions.
